Start Guide

Please click on the Vaccinator Authorisation Requirements Guide to help you step-by-step through the application process.

Your application for authorisation involves four separate components:

Resuscitation skills:

You will need to provide a copy of your annual practicing certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

Knowledge:

You will need to attend a full vaccinator training course (if you are applying for authorisation for the first time.)
  OR
You will need to attend an update for trained vaccinators (if you are reapplying for authorisation renewal).

Clinical skills:

You will need to have a clinical assessment (if you are applying for authorisation for the first time). This is usually included in the full vaccinator training course.
   OR
You will need to complete a peer-reviewed self-assessment of your vaccinating practice (if you are reapplying for authorisation renewal).

Approved immunisation programme(s):

(If you are intending to provide immunisation services not part of the National Immunisation Schedule)

If it is an approved local immunisation programme, you will need to provide details of the programme on your application.
   OR
If the immunisation programme is not currently approved, you (or your manager) will need to apply to the Medical Officer of Health for approval of a new local immunisation programme.
