School Beverages Programme

The School Beverages Programme aims to support schools with the introduction of beverage guidelines. These guidelines have been created in collaboration with the Waitemata District Health Board, National Heart Foundation and Auckland Regional Public Health Service, using a simple traffic light system. Drinks are labelled as ‘green’, ‘amber’ and ‘red’ according to their nutrition, energy and package size. Green drinks such as milk and water are healthier options than those in the amber and red categories. By identifying and eliminating the red drinks, students are made aware of healthy beverage choices.
