Asian Public Health

Auckland Regional Public Health Service’s focus on Asian public health is a response to the growing Auckland Asian population needs. This was identified in The Asian Public Health Project Report initiated by the Asian community and sponsored by the Ministry of Health.

While Asian people generally enjoy good health, a number of socioeconomic and health issues faced by the Asian population identified an immediate public health response. A number of initiatives were therefore developed to promote the health of Asian people in the Auckland region. Our major projects include:

  • Asian Health Website: resources and publications to enhance Asian people’s access to health services and information.
  • Asian Smokefree Communities Project. This project combines Smokefree programmes and a smoking cessation service.
