Workplace health programmes address a range of issues that have the potential to significantly improve the overall health of workers and also have a positive influence on productivity, staff morale and absenteeism.
Heartbeat Challenge TM is an example of a workplace health programme that successfully encourages workplaces to create an environment that reduces barriers and increases opportunities to improve and maintain health. The programme concentrates on the areas of nutrition, physical activity, smokefree programmes and stress reduction.
Heartbeat Challenge TM is a National Heart Foundation programme delivered in partnership with Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) and funded by the Ministry of Health.
